
History of Umang
Umang Centre for Autistics and Slow Learners was formed on 4 June,2000 in Mumbai, India. Umang is a non-government, not for profit, registered charitable trust formed with an objective of providing education and therapy to children with autistic disorder and slow learners. The Trust helps children with special needs and was started with a view to help the Autistics or Slow Learners, who are in need of multiple therapies but cannot afford it for an extended duration.
Ms. Bhawna Kerkar, a Clinical Psychologist (and founder Trustee of Umang), initially started off by providing therapy to a few children at her own premises. Umang school for Autistics and Slow Learners was started in 2005 at Mahavir Nagar, Kandivali. Umang School is equipped with the latest equipments and trained therapist to provide quality education and therapy to children. Hundreds of children and their families have greatly benefited from the services provided by this Trust since its inception.
